Perched atop Darling Hill, The Inn at Burklyn is an adults-only bed and breakfast made for slowing down together. Elmer Darling's grand hilltop mansion has been lovingly restored into 14 individually decorated guest rooms, each with a private marble bathroom and views of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Choose a historic suite where the Darlings themselves once slept, a third-floor hideaway with an original clawfoot soaking tub, or a cozy room overlooking the formal gardens. Every room is TV-free, by design, so nothing competes with the view. Every stay also includes a daily gourmet breakfast and afternoon baked goods. In season, you can end the day at Darlings, our bar, with a craft cocktail as the sun sets over the hills.

When you stay in one of our beautifully decorated rooms, each with its own en-suite luxury bathroom, you'll feel quietly at home. Enjoy a Vermont-style breakfast served on-site in our beautiful mahogany-paneled formal dining room or gather at Darlings, our seasonal, cozy detached lounge, for afternoon tea, a glass of wine or a craft cocktail.

Gather downstairs in the inn's shared sitting rooms, where roaring fires crackle in the original fireplaces during the cooler months and 360-degree views of Vermont's singular beauty fill every one of the inn's oversized windows.

Imagine yourself strolling along our wrap-around porch or rocking on the sun porch, coffee and book in hand, watching the morning mist lift from the valley below.

The Inn at Burklyn is an adults-only inn, out of respect for both the historic nature of the house and the serenity of our guests. We're unable to welcome pets, but we're happy to check with a local kennel on your behalf.

Our rooms are grouped into three collections:

• Luxury Suites are on the second floor. These are the four principal suites that still carry the names Elmer Darling gave them, each with a sitting area and historic details, and two with his original hand-painted ceilings.

• Estate Suites are on the third floor. One offers an original clawfoot soaking tub, the other a separate sitting room.

• Manor Bedrooms, on the second and third floors, are refined, restful rooms with king or queen beds.

The Willoughby and Brighton suites are each private rooms. They can connect by request when both are reserved together.

A few more details for your stay:

• Rates are based on double occupancy and include daily gourmet breakfast and afternoon refreshments, with baked goods served from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

• Check-in is at 4:00 pm and check-out is at 11:00 am. Early check-in is sometimes available; please call 24 hours in advance.

• All guest rooms are on the second and third floors and are accessible by stairs only.

• Our guest rooms are TV-free, leaving more time for conversation, a good book, and the Vermont countryside. Complimentary WiFi is available for guests who want to stay connected.

• This is a non-smoking inn. Smoking is permitted only in our designated outdoor area.

• Please note that our guest rooms are not air-conditioned; however, each room is equipped with an oscillating room fan to keep you cool on occasional warm summer nights.
