Sleep where Elmer Darling slept. At 503 square feet, Franconia was the master bedroom of Darling's country estate, and it remains the grandest room in the house. Like each of the principal suites, it's named for the direction it faces: southeast, toward Franconia Notch in New Hampshire's White Mountains. The original decorative fireplace frames a sitting area built for conversation or a good book, and the king bed sits beneath the same ceilings Darling woke to. The large marble bath with walk-in shower is a showpiece of its own. Two closets make settling in effortless, whether you're here for a weekend or a week.
