Elmer Darling named each of his four principal suites for the direction it faces, and Willoughby looks northwest toward Lake Willoughby. It is also one of only two suites where his original hand-painted ceiling survives, with a graceful "W" set into each corner. As a corner room, it draws light from two directions and frames the Northeast Kingdom in every window. An original decorative fireplace anchors a sitting area made for slow mornings and unhurried evenings, and the king bed invites you to sleep in. The large marble bath with walk-in shower completes the 475 square feet. Willoughby is a fully private suite. For two couples traveling together, it can connect to the neighboring Brighton Room when both are reserved and the connecting door is requested in advance. Otherwise, that door stays closed and your suite remains entirely your own.
